Hello all,

I'm a bit of a novice with Quad gear but I've just ordered the Dada Quad 33 revision kit and looking forward to refurbing it.

One thing I wondered was that the bulb on my unit has blown and I need to replace it. Can anyone tell me what sort to get? I believe they're LES type but I wasn't sure what rating.

Many thanks!

They have 14 volts across them max. But it's much better to replace them with 5mm LEDs in series with about 1.2k. I use yellow for the tuning lamps and green for the stereo indicator, but pick your own colours, or white of course. LEDs last 500 years so you will never have this problem again.

See my FM3 notes at http://quadrevisionspot.blogspot.com for more information about this and renovatiing FM3s generally.

Using a LED is probably the best (and most sustainable) solution as Esmond said.

If you do want to replace the bulb with a new one however you will find on here:

Cheers guys,

That's very helpful. Will probably go with swapping it for and LED instead then.

The most correct bulb for the 33 quad logo is a 6V E5.5.

This is 6v ac directly from a specific coil of the transformer.

The service manual states an 8V bulb.

Using a 12v E5.5 bulb makes the logo too dim.

The led conversion, minding the best colour for the best look, is a great option.

Best,
