Hello dear fellow quad enthusiasts,

Eighteen months ago I refurbished a quad 33 using the DaDa kit. The sound is fantastic until ... The unit has been playing for (approximately) three hours. Then an extremely loud hum appears. As if someone knocks the window very hard. So loud that it almost breaks the speakers. If I then change channels, it is gone ... Also when I switch off the unit, the sound is immediately gone. If I then turn the unit on again, the sound stays away. What could possibly be the problem? Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I would check the solder connections with a magnifying glass starting with the psu. It seems like something is warming up and breaking down.

Good luck!

This will either be a loose board or more probably the input or output cable. Check the soldering of the earth braid in all connectors, or replace the cable(s).

I agree. I had the same problem and it was down to a bad solder joint on the main board.
