I'm thinking of using an external phono stage but still use the phono module input sockets as a line level input (I believe Quad offered this mod at one time). I assume this just needs shorting out the components in the module and also the RIAA components around IC7/8 on the main PCB?

Do some components also have to be removed?

Has anyone tried this and can give a more detailed guide?

Thanks

This has been described in this forum already. I don't remember the solution from the top of my head, but you should be able to search for it.

There are photos of how to do it in the Photos section of the groups.io QuadHiFi group, which I believe are publicly accessible.

OK, Thanks Fabian.

I've found a post from 2012 where it recommends removing IC7 & 8 etc. This makes sense and looks the way to go.

EJP. Thank you also, but can't follow that suggestion to the photos/groups etc. Would appreciate a link if possible.

Thanks again to both of you, we're getting there!

The photos are not publicly accessible, you must first register and then subscribe to QuadHiFi to be able to see the photo's.
