Hello,

I have just purchased a late model Quad 44 (345**) which is sounding great. Looking inside I noticed  a few changes on the tone board (M12784-2). Ic704 is a tle2072 and some of the signal path electrolytics have been replaced with links. The other ic's elsewhere are tl071's and tl072's.

Are the tle2072's an improvement or would opa2134's be a better choice?

Also is there a component layout drawing for the toneboard anywhere?

Many thanks

Ken

THD&N performance of the TLE2072 seems pretty mediocre at 0.013%. An OPA2134 would be an order of magnitude better, and an LM4562 another order. I can't see the point of replacing only IC704. This may have been a repair, although op-amp failures are vanishingly rare. Contact me off-list for a layout photograph.
