Wondering if someone can help. A couple of the display segments of my 66 Preamp sometimes illuminate, sometimes not. I’m aware that when individualbalance indicators do not light, this is usually caused by the ribbon cable not being fully seated. But my problem seems different.

When I enterBass Step 1, it will sometimes illuminate, sometimes not. When it is not illuminated, a tap on the front panel will make it appear, but it always fades within a second or two. (The step is engaged, just no illumination.) This does not happen when using Bass Step 2. It reliably illuminates. The same thing happens with a segment of theTilt control, in both up and down positions, but not all indicators. A couple of Tilt segments reliably light up.

I don’tthink there are individual bulbs for any of these indicators. Could there be small components that control whether they are illuminated, perhaps something that’s beginning to fail like a capacitor?

This could be a bad joint on the 40 pins or whatever it is that connect the display to the case, or on any of the upstream multipin connectors.

Thanks EJP, I was hoping it was something like that. Odd how it sometimes doesn't light,  then with a tap it comes on but then immediately fades. I'll dive in there one day soon. Cheers.
