Greetings, I've just used the Revision kit on my old 303 and wow it sounds fantastic. Thank you so much.

Now my question is whether to do the same for my 405-2 ?   Which in your experience is the better power supply or does that all depend on how they are matched?

Hello,

I guess you mean which is the better power amplifier.

They are rather different indeed. The 303 has 50 Watt power and it is a classical (but very good) push-pull amp. The 405 has 100 Watt per channel and it is a current dumping amplifier with a totally different design, invented by Quad.

I would say the choice depends on the kind of music you listen to. The 303 is excellent for classical music or voices (as the midrange is famous) and the 405 is ideal if you need more punch like for jazz and rock music.

Both are excellent amplifiers and - of course - both need a revision after 40 years or more ;-)

Thank you for that. My only concern now is whether to take the plunge and revise the 405-2.  I looks a bit more of a job than the 303.
