I have a Quad 306 that has come my way, but it has a fault that I have not come across before.

On switch on there is a loud buzz from the left hand channel followed by the amp tripping the reset fuse a few seconds later. I have checked the transformer, bridge rectifier, smoothing caps, all output transistors and all the smaller transistors on the left channel. None of these have failed - I have even checked them out of circuit. I have also checked all the diodes while in-circuit.

The problem is definately in the left channel as the amp will power up when the bridge rectifier is removed from the left channel. Has any one got any suggestions were to look next or had a similar experience. Thanks

It's almost impossible to debug these things remotely, but have you checked T11/12 and the surrounding resistors?
