Recently my fully DA DA revised 405/2 has blown 2 main fuses (2.5amp antisurge) when swithed on. As part of the revision i also replace to a toroidal transformer and replaced the rectifier with the DA DA recommended item. This does not happed all the time but probably twice in as many months. The 405 is powered directly from the wall socket with short peaker leads. Any information would be appreciated. The 405 runs well and does not run overly warm even at reasonable volumes. Regards

Surely all 405's  should have 4A fuses?

According to the service manual the main fuse is a 2.5 amp antisurge (2.5 AT) so the value of the fuse is correct. Regards

There are four F4A fuses internally and a slow-blow accessible externally whose rating depends on the mains voltage.

What capacitors did you use in the renovation? If you used 22,000uF or more you should reduce them.

Hello EJP. Thanks for the reply . The voltage is 240v and the main accessible fuse is a 2.5 AT. The capacitors I used were Kemet ALS30A103KE 10,000UF 100v as they fitted the carriers with no mod and gave ample clearance for the cover. The rectifier is a KDPC3504 . The transformer is as recommended in the forum and webshop. I did however buy some fuses on EBAY and these could be suspect as they were quite cheap. Any comments?

Throw the fuses away and get some from a reputable supplier. I don't mind el cheapo parts here and there but fuses are not something to economize on. They prevent fusion, fire, shock, and death.
