I have 33 & 303 combo, when I switch on there is crackle from speakers, only lasts for a couple seconds.  I would appreciate opinion on what it may be, I think there is a transistor playing up but which one?

Regarding the Crackle, the AMP has been upgraded with DADA components, oh it works fine after the crackle.

Remove the tape adapter board from the 33. If that stops the noise, replace both the transistors on that board. If it doesn't, swap the two amplifier boards in the 33 around. If that moves the problem, replace all the transistors on the board that when removed completely causes the problem to disappear, or both of them if you can't isolate it that way.

You might also check either amp for cold solderings. I had similar woes and found a cold/cracked solder in my 303... Patience and a magnifying glass;-) Regards, Viggo, Sweden
